Sabah is located in the upper north and the world's third largest island of Borneo, an area of 72,500 square kilometers large, is Malaysia's second largest continent located on the east coastline of 1440 km, west of the South China Sea, east of the Sulu Sea and the Celebes Sea. We experience summer throughout the year with annual rainfall between 152 cm to 305 cm, the rainy season usually falls on November to February. After the ruling of British since 1881, Sabah and Sarawak achieve independence on September 16, 1963 together with Malaya to form Malaysia.

Kota Kinabalu is the capital city of Sabah in Malaysia. Before the formation of Malaysia, it was formerly known as Jesselton, which is named after Sir Charles Jessel who is the Vice Chairman of Chartered Company. The city center of Kota Kinabalu is concentrated with hotels, travel agencies and stations, therefore becoming an important commercial and administrative area in Sabah. Despite catching up the hustle of metropolis, different cultures and historical landscape is still preserved. For instance, the natural ecosystem, culture of indigenous ethnics, historical buildings inherited from the British colonial, heritage museum and open-air markets that illustrate the multicultural atmosphere.
Kota Kinabalu is situated in a tropical area, enjoying the sunshine and beaches are the main activities for most tourists. In fact, Kota Kinabalu is also well-known as a diving paradise with diverse coral reefs. Located at the east coast of Sabah (North Borneo), Sandakan was formerly under the jurisdiction of Philippines. In 1878, Austrian won a “lease” over Sandakan from Sultan, until the appearance of British William Pryer. He was one of the key people in creating history on establishment of Sandakan in 1879. William Pryer was totally attracted by its beautiful scenery when he first settled in Sandakan. Back then, it was only a fishermen’s village along the seaside. He named new settlement as “Elopura” which means “beautiful city”. Sandakan previously was the capital of Sabah until 1945 when Japanese invaded and cause massive destruction. Consequently, the capital was then moved to Jesselton, which is now known as “Kota Kinabalu”.

Located on the southwestern tip of Sabah, Semporna is one of the world top 10 diving Holy Land! Speedboat ride from Semporna also leads to internationally well-known resort islands such as Kapalai island, Mabul island, Mataking Island, and Pom Pom Island! The islands mentioned above are situated at the Celebes Sea where is it a junction for several countries, the charming island and the clear sense of seawater will definitely amaze you!

Sabah is well known as "The Land Below The Wind" because of its location just south of the typhoon-prone region, making it free from typhoons. Kota Kinabalu is the capital of Sabah, with its major towns such as Sandakan, Tawau, Keningau, Beaufort, Kudat, Semporna, Lahad Datu, Tuaran, Sipadan, Ranau and so on.
Home to 32 indigenous ethnics, among them are Kadazan-Dusun, mainly are Christians while the Bajaus are mostly Muslims as well as Murut. The Chinese basically are migrants in large numbers during the 19th century. Most of them are from Hakka, Guang Hu, Teo Chew, Hokkien, Hainan and Tian Jin, Hu Bei in the 20th century.
Although people nowadays rarely rely on train as land transportation, Sabah eventually maintains the Borneo’s only railway that leads all the way from Kota Kinabalu to inland of Tenom and Beaufort. Due to the mountainous landscape, air transport is also fairly important.
